Your mission
During orientation and other welcome events, you heard about Madonna University's Mission Statement. Take a look at the statement and discuss what you think about it. Can you agree with all the provisions? Disagree with anything? Post a response by noon, Monday, Sept. 11.
I think I can agree with the provisions in Madonna's mission statement. The growth of students not only academically but also as a person is very important. The growth of every student should be important to the university and I think Madonna's mission statement fully encompasses this fundamental idea. Instilling the values of the Franciscans in students will really help prepare them in life and make them more ready for service in the work force.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with the provisions of the Madonna University mission statement due to the fact that it encompasses what is expected from a University while also going above and beyond. The fact that the mission includes instilling christian humanistic values as well as a respect for diversity shows that Madonna is committed to making students into better people than when they entered which will ultimately be beneficial throughout their careers as well as their social lives. In terms of an education, the mission is to properly educate students, prepare them for their careers, and instill intellectual inquiry. While the proper education and preparation for a career are expected of a university, the instillation of intellectual inquiry is something very valuable. Curiosity and the desire to learn more will help students succeed in the class room as well as helping them constantly improve in their careers which will take them far beyond where only a college education would have.

This mission statement symbolizes what the University wants their students to obtain and carry with them in their future goals and aspirations. As seen though the Franciscan Values, Madonna University wants students to thrive and make a positive impact on the world. Madonna University cares strongly about the success of each individual through proper education. Therefore, students are ready for life after college.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the provisions of the Madonna University mission statement, I think I can agree with them. The mission statement is not only to help the Madonna student thrive in the classroom; however, to help excel in the real world as well. The mission is there to instill these values that will benefit you in the workforce and in your social life. The values, truly will make the individual that buys in to them a better person during and for life after college.
ReplyDeleteI also can agree with all the missions that Madonna university is trying to cover. The mission statement top me shows how much Madonna university wants people not just to get a great education, but they would also like to make the students better people that respect everyone. Also, with the values there trying to achieve, it just makes the campus a lot better because every one is nice to everyone and you can really get comfortable and be yourself.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with the provisions of the Madonna University mission statement, I actually do not disagree with any of it. The mission statement shows that Madonna is seeking to not only provide an education to its students, but to also build their personal values. Students are able to grow their social skills as they follow the Franciscan Values, gaining a respect for diversity and becoming committed to serving others. These values in the mission statement also allow for students on campus to be very welcoming to others, and I have already experienced that myself. This mission will instill values in students that will follow them for years after college.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading through and analyzing the various points present on the "Madonna University's Mission Statement" article I would say that they all in line with what one would come to expect from any other modern western code of conduct, and having grown up with these general western values instilled in me (which in themselves are heavily influenced by Christian humanistic values); I can find no objection to Madonna's Franciscan ideals.

In addition, I feel that the above guidelines can be said to adequately confer what can be described as traditional American values, with perhaps the absence of free speech being the only notable difference in the listed provisions.
I strongly agree with the provisions of the Madonna University mission statement. The mission statement surpasses what other colleges expect from their students, by not only wanting us to thrive in the class room, but also in our own personal endeavors. They want us to do this through the Franciscan Values. These values are respect for the dignity of each person, peace and justice, reverence for creation, and education for the truth and service. These values will not only help us succeed in the classroom but also in life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the provisions of Madonna University. Madonna’s mission statement shows that the university is seeking to improve their students both academically and socially. The Franciscan values that Madonna bestows upon its students allows them to grow into people that respected diversity and are willingly committed to serving others. These values are ones that will help students not only in college, but also in life.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with the provisions of Madonna University's mission statement. These values exemplify how Madonna excels in guiding its students toward acceptance of others and equality among different religions, races, backgrounds, and ways of life. Practicing the Franciscan Values is not an action that can be restricted to something only seen in a classroom setting. The ideas presented are also relevant to everyday situations and I believe that following these values can be beneficial to and strengthen the unity between all people.
ReplyDeleteI can agree with the provisions of Madonna University statement. I think Madonna does pretty well in diversity here. I have seen people here that i have never seen in my life and can get along with them . Im happy to see that I can be comfortable around people form another culture.
