  1. On the quiz, I got eleven out of the twelve questions right. This placed me ahead of eighty two percent of the public, at the same score of twelve percent of the public, and behind six percent of the public. The only question that I got wrong was the question asking if water boiled at a higher, lower, or the same temperature in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles California which was the question that also had the lowest percentage of people to answer it correctly for most groups. I originally had selected the correct answer for this question but I ignored a piece of advice from one of the best teachers at my high school to stick with my original answer when I was not one hundred percent sure and ended up changing my answer and ultimately proved my teacher right. I was a bit surprised at some of the questions because I thought there would be more questions on scientific concepts such as the sound wave question and the boiling point question, but there seemed to be a decent amount of questions about random facts in science such as the creator of the polio vaccine and matching an area of scientific study with its definition.

  2. I got ten questions correct out of the twelve on the quiz. I scored better than 67% of the public, below 18% of the public, and the same as 15%. I was expecting questions that were much harder than these, a lot of them dealt with topics we learned in high school. I did second guess myself on a few during the quiz because I couldn’t remember everything from high school, like the question about sound waves. I noticed that the two most missed questions dealt with sound waves and water boiling. I assume that the individuals who had the results based off them had the same issue with remembering what they learned in high school.

  3. According to the results of the quiz, I have a significantly above average understanding of basic science. I scored better than 94% of the public and the same as 6%. The fact that only 94% of the the more than 3,000 people surveyed were able to correctly answer all of these basic common knowledge science questions says a lot about the current state of affairs in our country and it is most disconcerting.
The % correct per question were broken down into gender, age, and racial demographics which I found quite interesting to analyze. It would appear that for some reason women scored less than men on every question, the reason for this discrepancy is unknown.

  4. My results on this quiz revealed that I scored better the 52% of the public, below 33% of the public, and the same as 15%. I was shocked that I did better than a little over half of the public that took this test. I also found it surprising how simple some of the questions, and honestly some stumped me. including the question concerning who discovered the polio vaccine. Which with research I discovered I got correct. Well I guess that just shows me that I have some work to do, and new things to learn.

  5. My overall results on this quiz revealed that I scored better than 82% of the public, below 6% and the same as 12%. I was surprised at the score I got because there were some questions that were more difficult than others. The question that gave me the most trouble was how the loudness of a sound is determined, but going back and looking at it, it makes sense now. The rest of the questions were straight forward, and things I learned in high school. Although the quiz was science based, I was expecting more difficult questions than what were asked.

  6. I scored better than 82% of the public, below 6% and the same as 12%. The questions on the quiz were kind of straight forward and learned in High School. The only question i got wrong was "what happens when light passes through a magnifying glass?" i wasn't sure by looking at the images provided. Once i went back and checked my work i then realized which one it was and why i made the mistake i did.

  7. My overall results on this quiz revealed that I scored better than 67% of the public, below 18% and the same as 15%. I was surprised of my score because I ended up getting more correct that I thought I would. Most of these questions were ones that I learned in middle school and high school, some of which I haven't learned about in a long time, so I stumbled on some of the questions. However, I expected more difficult questions, and I am surprised that the average person struggles answering most of these questions.

  8. On the quiz, I scored 12 out of 12. This means I did better than 94% of the public and the same as 6%. I was really surprised at the results because it seemed like the questions were common knowledge for most of them. All of these questions seemed to be things that were covered in school but they were a bit more obscure concepts such as the boiling point of water at higher altitudes.

  9. After completing the Science Knowledge Quiz, my results came back as 11 out of 12. This mean I scored better than 82% of the public, below 6%, and the same as 12%. I was quite surprised I was able to recall this information from my earlier years of education. Although these questions were pretty straight forward I can definitely see how someone could stumble across these. The only question I was unable to answer was " Which of these people developed the polio vaccine?". I never learned this information so I just had to make an educated guess.

  10. I had correctly answered 9 out of the 12 questions on the Science Knowledge Quiz, which concluded that I answered better than 52% of the public, below 33%, and the same as 15% of the adults that participated in the survey. Most of these questions were fairly basic and I discovered that the ones I did not get right were some of the questions that most of the survey study also did not get right. Quite a few of these questions seemed very easy, however, and I am surprised about the number of people that got them wrong.

  11. I got 7 out of 12 questions right. I also found out that i scored better than 28% of the public, below 60%, and the same as 12% of the people that took the quiz. I felt like the questions were fairly basic and were questions i should have known. A prime example is how tides are created, I knew it was the moon, but i didn't read all of the answers thoroughly and didn't take my time. So other then not taking my time and rushing, I think i should have gotten a little bit better score then 7 out of 12.
