Halfway point
We have reached the midpoint of your first semester in college. What has been your biggest surprise so far? Biggest disappointment? What are you thoughts as you ponder what classes to take next semester. Please respond by Monday, Oct. 23.
One of the biggest surprise for me this semester would have to be the work load. It seems to build up more each week. This makes sleep scarce. One of the biggest disappointment is how fast points and meals get eating away. Then I'm forced to reduce my amount of spending to last me through the semester. Now I understand that its a part of life, but that doesn't make it any easier. The only thought I have about my classes next semester is that it get's harder from here. So I just got to keep moving forward to accomplish my goals.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise to me so far has definitely been the amount of free time i actually have during my week. Once i finish all my homework for the week i usually have so much time to do things that i never actually know what to do. I would have to say so far the biggest disappointment of my college career is actually me not time managing very well and having to stay up some nights till about 1 or 2. The only thoughts i have on scheduling next semester is ones that will work around my baseball schedule so i have to miss as little of class as possible.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise to me so far is the lack of free time I have since I have so much work to do. Sometimes I end up staying late to finish assignments when I don't manage my time. There hasn't been any big ddisappointments for me so far. For next semester I want to schedule my classes so that I don't have any night classes like I do this semester.
ReplyDeleteOne of the biggest surprises that I have is the amount of time that I have to complete my homework. Compared to high school's 7 classes a day and multiple assignments due each day, having, at a maximum, only 3 classes a day with a full week to complete assignments is very surprising. However, one of my largest disappointments is in how I manage my time. I find it hard to focus on working on homework if I keep thinking that I have all this time to finish it. Of course, I end up trying to cram everything in the day before it is due and staying up until 3 in the morning. As for next semester's courses, I hope to get more afternoon or night classes because I am not a morning person.
ReplyDeleteCollege has been a big challenge for me. I knew before I came it would be a lot of work but this is ridiculous. I feel like the only break I get is when I am with my friends .Its not that the work is hard I just think i need to take it more serious .
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise so far in college has to be the success that I have had for the college bowling team. When I showed up at my first practice, I didn't even expect to make the varsity team for the entire year. So far, not only did I make the varsity team for the first tournament, but I led the team in average for that tournament and bowled my first perfect game in a recent practice as well. My biggest disappointment so far has to be my performance in my religious studies class. Luckily we've only had a single quiz so far but the questions were much more specific and in depth than I had originally expected leading to a below average score. I expect the next semester to be harder than this semester due to more difficult classes as well as my first class that will pertain to one of my majors.
ReplyDeleteOne of the biggest surprises so far in college for me would be the amount of free time I have. The way my classes are set up, I only have one class a day, and they are all in the mornings. I also have two online classes and I am done with class by Thursday. Sometimes I don't know what to do with all the time that I have and that is somewhat of a struggle for me. With that being said, my time management is one of my biggest disappointments so far. Mostly because I have definitely seen the results of not using my free time wisely. I have taken a few exams already and not done as well as I should have because I did not study for more than a day or two, when I could have been studying every day after class. I will definitely work on my time management more as the year goes on. For next semester, I hoping to schedule my classes around my baseball schedule because I do not want to miss any of my classes or get behind in any of them.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the largest surprise that I have encountered so far would be the lack of a surprise. I expected things to be totally different in college; however, it seems to be nothing more than high school with unusual hours. As of yet, I can't say that I am disappointing with anything other than perhaps the food which I find to be overpriced and unimpressive. My concern for next semester is getting the specific professor that I want for a particular class, other than that I am fine.
ReplyDeleteOne of the biggest surprises that I have had so far is the amount of free time outside of classes to complete my homework and study for upcoming tests. It has also allowed me to work more hours than I have been able to because I have more time than I did in high school. My biggest disappointment would be how much I study for tests. I realize I have so much time to study that I wait to the week before to start studying and that is not enough time for how much material is on the exam. For next semester, I hope my schedule will still allow me to work the same amount I do now.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the biggest surprise so far is the amount of time that I have to complete assignments, as well as the amount of free time that I could have. Rather than having assignments due the day after they are assigned, I usually have a week to complete them. The only problem, and the biggest disappointment I have, is the fact that I can’t manage my time well. I usually don’t finish my work early, but if I did I would have a ton of free time. It definitely makes me want to start managing my time in a better way. As I move onto next semester, I hope I can keep my classes relatively early so I don't have night classes.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprised me the most when starting college is the amount of free time I have. Once baseball ended I didn't know what to do with myself. I enjoy how college is scheduled. When I am given an assignment I have a week to complete it. But with all this free time I tend to procrastinate on the assignments. I hope to learn to manage my time better in the future. There haven't been any disappointments for me so far in college. As the semester comes to an end I still am not sure what my thought are for what classes I need to take for the upcoming years. I plan to give this more thought in the next couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteBy far my biggest surprise about college is the work load paired with volleyball. I thought for sure with my major being on the more "difficult" side that I would have a tough time adjusting to the amount of school work as well as being a collegiate athlete. But so far, I cannot complain. My biggest disappointment, is probably the amount of downtime I have. I'm a person that typically likes to keep busy 24/7 but instead of keeping busy and constantly running around I find myself in my dorm a lot either sleeping, studying or watching television. Next semester I hope to have a schedule just like this semester, I only have more than one class two days a week and I love that. I also hope that I can keep my class times to earlier in the day. I like the fact that sometimes I can be done with class around noon and plan to run errands or do whatever I may need to do for the rest of my day.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest surprise that I've encountered in college has been how well my high school prepared me. The classes are a bit harder but nothing crazy and that was another good surprise. At this point in the year I haven't found anything disappointing because so far i really like the college. thinking of the classes i want to take next semester, I really want to pick classes that can keep the structure of my schedule almost the same. I really enjoy the free time I have and not being in school all day every day.
